The Super Eagles Of Nigeria Trashed Akwa United

The Super Eagles trashed the Nigeria Professional Football League side Akwa United 3-0 in a friendly game inside the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo on Wednesday, 31st August, 2016 as floodlight fails.

The Super Eagles friendly encounter was a preparatory game towards Saturday's 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Tanzania.

In the fitst 45 mins of the game, goals from Brown Ideye, and Nosa Igiebor for the Eagles.

In the last 45 mins, Odion Ighalo sealed the victory as he scored wonderful penalty by sending Akwa United shot stopper to the wrong direction.

The Super Eagles started with Ikechukwu Ezenwa in goal, with Shehu Abdullahi, Elderson Echiejile, Porto youngster Chinedu Awaziem and Jamiu Alimi in defence.

Echiejile, who just completed a loan move from Monaco to Standard Liege, was sent off in the second half for two yellow cards.

Musa Muhammed, Nosa Igiebor and Wilfred Ndidi started in midfield, while Rio 2016 star  Imoh Ezekiel, Brown Ideye, and Victor Osimhen formed the attack.

In the second half of the game, William Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Mikel Obi, Victor Moses, Ogenyi Onazi, Ighalo, Kelechi Iheanacho and Ahmed Musa  all came on in the second half.

The match was however abruptly halted with 20 minutes to go as the stadium floodlights did not come on.
